3. instruct the students that one sheet of foil is to test their design ideas and the other sheet is for their final “boat”. 4. provide the students with the design challenge to create a “boat” that will hold the most pennies/washers. instruct the students that . they are not allowed to use anything to build the boat other than. So here's the challenge. i need some sort of a portable or permanent tabernacle setup: one where i can feed the foot of the mast into the tabernacle, raise the mast up (much easier to do with the foot under control), then drop it through the fore deck/bridge deck into the mast step.. Distribute the boat design challenge kit to each group and allow enough time for them to brainstorm, design, build and test their models. when students have had time to test and improve their models, host a classroom boat design competition..
